What is Outliner? [was Re: Subjective Percentages?]

I had that same thought over the weekend but ended up playing with 
jEdit and loving it. It reminds me a alot of emacs's extensibility the 
shortcut-key-for-every-function approach to editing. Its also got some 
really good plugins and a hojillion editing modes like emacs.
