Actually it struck me as rude as well, particularly the "glacial" part.

Quite frankly, I use OO because it suits 90+% of my needs. For those 
times it isn't very suited, I use something else (such as Circus 
Ponies' Notebook, which I love, but differently).

For example, I find OO better for novel outlining and most of my 
outlining work.

I find Notebook better for keeping notes about characters -- almost 
exclusively because of the full-text index in the back. For the same 
reason, I find it better for keeping my trove of story ideas, because I 
can just slap them in somewhere and find them by keyword later and 
prefer the alphabetic list of words to a find function.
