Can't apply level styles

I decided to see what this OmniOutliner was that came on my Powerbook. 
Very cool... however I cant apply color or text changes to a level. In 
the OO help it says after selecting a color (it doesn't specify for 
font) to press the "Apply button". There is no apply button. I've tried 
selecting a font or a color and then just closing the respective 
palette and nothing happens. Nothing in OO help or at the website was 
of any help. If somebody could please tell me what I'm missing here it 
would be appreciated.
