This may not be a MathType vs Equation Service issue. The question is, how does OO3 handle the image
generated by Equation Service. I have verified this behavior on my machine as well. I would like to
add that it would be nice if the frame around the graphic could be somehow minimized, or
de-emphasized so that the equations appeared to be more a part of the document.
Regarding MathType, while I am pleased they are still supporting the Mac, and in the context of M$
Word they may be the standard, but if you really want nice looking equations, and if you want the
best possible typsetting for your document, you will look elsewhere. The free (GNU) software which
supports the LaTeX standard is *far* better than anything formatted with a Microsoft tool. Equation
Service is a case in point. It generates beautiful equations which can be imported into many quartz
or pdf capable applications, and it is free.
