I agree with the positive responses. I really enjoy Omniweb 0.9.x... it
really is so much better than the older versions that I often wonder how
I used the older versions! The multiple windows and multithreadedness
are so useful...Now, I can FTP something and still continue browsing!
The new bookmarks system makes bookmarks actually useful. The speedup is
so incredibly noticeable...I feel like I have a faster network
connection.
Some of the little things that have changed make Omniweb a lot more
aesthetically pleasing. The smaller window size is a good idea, as is
the rearrangement of elements in the window. The newer font mappings are
really cool--I think Omniweb has had the best display mappings of any
browser for the last few releases now. I miss the spinning earth, but
the "Stop" button makes much more sense and doesn't use up nearly as much
processor time. The "stop" buttons on the image loads are important.
How about those new services, eh? Cool idea. It integrates the machine
much more with net resources. (Obviously, it would be nice to customize
these....but that's not a major concern).
Oh, and the new info panel r0x.
Hey folks, if you don't like the bugs...write your own web browser (and
if you really want bugs, use Mosaic...). No one said there only had to
be one NS browser. This whole web thing has hit so fast, it has taken
the software industry completely by surprise. A rock-solid
implementation of ANYTHING is still largely unheardof.
All I've got to say is: Omniweb is now definitely better than Netscape.
