Drag and Drop in 0.93 - Broken/Buggy?

What ever happened to drag and drop of images from the 0.7 release.  It made sense.  I could drag a gif from the web viewer right into another app or into the workspace.  Now the gif opens itself when dragged inside OmniWeb, and unpredictable things when dragged outside the app.  I have had users say that it puts workspace into "spinning-wheel" mode.  Not Good!  Is there hope?
