You need to get ahold of some sort of daemon program that allows your computer
to act as a web server. I used the one from CERN called "httpd". The binary
together with a number of other files is available by ftp at
ftp.w3.org in directory

/pub/www/bin/next
or at
http://www.w3.org/pub/bin/next

You will have to read the instructions and have some facility with basic Unix.
You will also want to look at the Installation Guide(s),

online at
http://www.w3.org/hypertext/WWW/Daemon/User/Installation/Installation.html

or hard copy in directory /pub/www/doc as
cern-httpd-guide.ps.Z and
cern-httpd-docs.tar.Z

You will have to be careful to get your configuration file right
and place a line to start the daemon into your rc.local script.
