First of all, thanks to Mose Wingert <beska at omnigroup.com> and Garance A Drosehn
<gad at eclipse.its.rpi.edu> for replying to my original posting. Your suggestions helped me start
poking in the right direction.
In my post, I described how I was having trouble with OmniWeb/OmniImage when displaying some image
types (particularly .ps and .eps). These would sometimes display correctly, and sometimes bomb
out with the "NO image" symbol. Other users at my site were not having the same problems I was,
in spite of using "virtually the same software/setup".
After learning a little more about Services, I realized that my home directory contained the
folder ~/.NeXT/services, which included info about available services. This included a number of
files, including some from apps that I do not use. I believe what happened is this: in the past,
I loaded up demos of these apps, discovered they didn't fit my needs, and deleted them.
Apparently, services entries for the apps remained floating around.
After renaming this folder to a different location, I logged out and back in. The services folder
was recreated, and is filling up again with info about the apps that I really DO use. OmniWeb is
once again showing me my images on a consistent, reliable basis. Yea!
Thanks again, Robin
