x-eprint and online preprint servers

Has anyone set up OW to deal with eprints in a nice manner?
What I want is to go to a preprint server, (http://xxx.lanl.gov/, eg)  
find some article I want, click on "Source", and have the file  
downloaded, decompressed and detarred, texed, and piped to a  
previewer, preferably with the figures inserted into appropriate  
places. This is possible with Mosaic under X (except maybe the  
figures getting automatically inserted), for instructions see
http://xxx.lanl.gov/x-eprint.html
It may well be possible for us too, has anyone done it?
