newcomer question on server/proxy setup

Hi, I just got hands on OmniWeb version 0.9.3, and having a few problems with
the setup. I have a working setup of Netscape, and according to that a proxy is
paired with a port number. 

How does that map onto the way these things are specified in OmniWeb? 

I have managed to get it going for http, but thats rather by luck - 
certainly, I cannot make it work for ftp (givin an error 501).

BTW, I have also installed OmniImageFilter and can now drag a gif file into
the Edit.app - so it works (great). But when wieving e.g. www.next.com OmniWeb
downloads the images, but just displays a gif-icon with at superimposed 
'no-entry' sign (and yes, it is downloaded). Shouldn't it be enough just to
install the filters?
