This is getting out of hand, but anyway..

SGML docs and this SGML bastardisation called HTML were never meant to be written by human beings. The whole -idea- of SGML is (at least semi-)automatic markup. Of course missing the point of SGML was soo much easier, so CERN and NCSA went ahead and did just that - you can see the results every day. Anyway: Any tag needs a matching close tag -by principle-, regardless whether the closing tag carries any semantic meaning or not. See the <p> example: even though nested paragraphs are not supported, they should at least be -possible- in the future. Bogus HTML just prevents that.
Now flame me for being picky..or ask me why I hate the visual attributes in HTML.
