The beta-test will be public, so anyone feeling brave will be able to participate.

Unfortunately, it's been our experience that if we release beta software too early, people are so overwhelmed by the bugs that they think we're making reverse progress and give up on us.  Thus, we're waiting until 2.0 is demonstrably better than 1.0 in every way before we release any copies of it.  (2.0 is a complete rewrite, so right now it's lacking some features and niceties that 1.0 had.)
