PDF and the web

PDF is bigger, but giving people fine control over layout will be a good
thing, as that way NetScape can stop crudding up the HTML standard with
page-layout tags.

By the way, Omni has just finished its PDF viewer app, and it's now
available from Lighthouse for large customers. Omni will be giving away a
single license to individuals, just like with OmniWeb. The PDF viewer will
eventually be tightly integrated with OmniWeb, but right now we can't find
any documents that contain WWW links in them that aren't also encrypted with
Adobe's stupid undocumented encryption scheme. (Even publicly readable
documents are encrypted by the new Acrobat stuff. Very nice, Adobe. Way to
turn an "open standard" into a joke: encrypt the files and don't publish
the specs on how to decrypt them.)
