Updating View without changing focus

Members,

	In OmniWeb the main browser view that displays the HTML data and images can continue an update or reload while a user is typing in the URL text field. How does one program this without threading the user interface? I have a View that displays the contents of a file that I update say every 5 seconds and while it is updating it is necessary for a user to be able to type in a text field in the same window. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
