Background Image Preferences

Does a "Load Background Images" preference seem logical to anyone else but  
myself? I have been using the beta on both color and monochrome machines and  
the monochrome display can be extremely hard to use because of background  
images. Yes, you can change the "color" of the text but that is not a very  
easy solution to implement.
