It seems to me, gentlemen, that this feature could be implemented with 
a carefully thought-out 'Hide Done Items' AppleScript that would prefix 
all done items with information about their locations, then move those 
items under a header (that would be collapsed) called 'Done' or 
something of that nature. The 'Reveal Done Items' would do the 
opposite, decoding the location data, yanking out each item and 
restoring them to their rightful positions.

Its not a perfect solution, obviously: the Done tree is still there 
(although the script could colour it white-on-white making it 
essentially invisible) and a user could potentially change the location 
data resulting in something nasty happening, and depending on how the 
location was stored the position may shift a few places. But its still, 
you know, a solution, that may do.
