Can't see columns with RTF export in Word

Hey everyone-

I can't see columns when I export to RTF and then open in our 
favourite program, Word.  I've tried this on both the Windows and 
Mac.  Things look fine when I open in TextEdit (and even WordPad on 
the PC, bizarrely).  The main part of the doc is there, but the spot 
where I would expect the column data is completely empty.

When exporting to text using plain text (with spaces) , is there a 
way to set the width of the page?  It looks to be 80 columns or so 
which forces an early line wrap in, you guessed it, Word...

Also, when exporting to text, if an item contains an inline note, the 
following line bumps up against the bottom of the note.  (Lines 
without notes leave a CR.) I didn't see any vertical spacing options 
to add space *between* lines, just horizontal spacing options between 
levels...

p.s. I loooove the inline notes.  It's nice to not have to force a 
hierarchy all the time.  And the autobackup has saved my as..., er, 
documents a number of times already.
