Proxy cache problems and OmniWeb 1.0PR2

This is a variation on the bugs I have seen reported, but is distinct and 
wierd...

Sometimes a page I am fetching via a proxy fails - the specific case I am 
currently seeing is an ArchiePlex interface which can take so long to run 
that everything times out with an error dialog which has the path of my proxy 
plus the path I am trying to access (with form parameters if applicable).  If 
I reload the page, or resubmit the form, it immediately fails again, but this 
time the path in the error dialogue starts with the URL of my home page, NOT 
my proxy cache.

The examples I have seen this on are using a CERN httpd version 3.0 and the 
Nexor ArchiePLex page -
