I had this problem too, at first, and then I realized that I had
ImageViewer on my system in /LocalApps. ImageViewer also has a GIF display
service, and apparently OmniWeb hit ImageViewer before OmniImageFilter. The
solution was to move ImageViewer to /Apps (services aren't automatically
registered from that directory) and make_services and then restart OmniWeb.
The important thing is to make sure that no programs launch to icons on the
bottom of your screen - OmniImageFilter doesn't do that. What cinched it
for me was that I moved ImageViewer without doing a make_services and got
this on the console when I opened a page with a GIF:
Mar 24 02:04:22 Workspace: Cannot exec /LocalApps/ImageViewer-
0.9i/ImageViewer.app: (not a valid program)
Mar 24 02:04:22 Workspace: Cannot launch service: 'ImageViewer'
Proof positive that OmniWeb wasn't using OmniImageFilter as it
should.
Test OmniWeb on http://www.metaverse.com/. I believe the Metaverse
icon is a transparent GIF. Open your console panel and make sure you do not
get the skipping unimplemented block error. If you do, check to see that
OmniImageFilter is the only GIF filter service.
Hope this helps.
