Directories when using file: URLs

  *BZT* Wrong. NCSA server usually do that. CERN Servers give you the
Welcome.html file from that directory from their standard configuartion
and that can easily be changed in the config file.

And the file name should be configurable to match the current server
installation. But then, if you go to an ftp server, you are usually 
trying to get the directory listing, aren't you?
