This problem is NeXTSTEP's, or netinfo's, or somewhere in there.
My guess is that it's not in OmniWeb per se.  If the problem was
timeouts while looking up the *hostname* (in a DNS sense), then
all other netinfo accesses are stuck behind that host name lookup.
Some problem like this is implied by your problems with "ls -l".
The "ls" command is hanging up trying to map UID's (the number)
to userid's (the character string).  You'd probably see the same
kind of hang with a "ps -u", but not see it with a "ps -un".

This is just a guess on my part, of course.
