Installation problems

Thanks for the advice, but I've done that several times. It doesn't help.
Everytime I change any default settings and quit, the console complains
that preferences couldn't be written to Defaults:
Jul 7 16:13:44 mashallah OmniWeb[288]: Couldn't save window Preferences
in defaults.
