how do Ihandle ".gz"

Monsieur, Madame or Mademoiselle (as the case may be)

OK, you are dealing with a rank amature here.  I just
downloaded the Omniweb-1.0.app.tar.gz and I don't now
what to do about the ".gz" suffix.  I could handle ".z"
but with ".gz" I am lost.  What "app" do I need to deal
with the ".gz" thing and where can I find it?

I hope you can help.  It's so cool to find the odd bit
of software for my poor 'ol NeXTStation.

I also can't spell so please pardon any boo-boos.
